Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala is Out

For those of you who don't know what Ubuntu is, it is a a distribution of Linux and it is an operating system like Windows or OSX except that is free and open source so if your a developer you can look at the code and rewrite it as you see fit.

A new version 9.10 Karmic Koala has been out since last Thursday and I've been a bit lazy in upgrading as I have a few proprietary drivers installed and removing them and upgrading and reinstalling takes up a good chunk of time not to mention any unforeseen problems that always seem to go with software upgrades. You can take a peek at it here at http://www.ubuntu.com. It has some new features such as the shorter boot time (one site said 5 secs for a SSD) and a new graphical software manager making it even easier for the not so computer savvy to use. I think they have add a free file back up service as well. All in all it looks pretty neat and I should be upgrading soon.
